There is a fuse for it.
Open the main fuse holder area.

On Discovery I there was a fuse.
10 amps.
Without it, my code scanner would not power up.
And, my code scanner with batteries would not even read the OBDII.

Discovery II there would be a fuse too.

You were probably messing around shorting pins trying to get the Wabco brake computer to flash out codes and you shorted the last power pin on the end...

The fuse has the picture of a book near it on the owners manual.

 

Thanks for the reply and info. i took apart the bottom part and wrapping to get into those harness' you mentioned. i did see corrosion. I do not have any loose wires but did jiggle the harness and noticed i have my OBD 2 scan tool power up now. As far as the courtesy (dome) lights, does any one know which wire under the blower motor controls that? i have not completely taken all the harness' off since i just got back from out of town for a couple of weeks. I have the RAVE manual but cannot find the wirring schematics for the courtesy lights. they used to work fine they don't come on even if you manually turn them on or any of the doors are open. thank you again for all your help and look forward to your reply. I have had the truck for over 4 months and really like the truck and would like to get it working. I have to do some work since i noticed the head gasket leaking oil and little coolant. I have just gotten all of the gaskets and parts needed to re seal the engine while i'm at it . Anyone has a recommendation for what i should look for or prime the oil pump since i bought an oil pump rebuilt kit through atlantic british? THanks again everyone.

For the circuit diagrams check out 44.1 in the electrical diagram file in the rave. The lights go through header 0289. You need to look in the electrical library in the rave for info on the header.

Pull fuse #16.
Put a volt meter on each pin.
One pin must be 12V.
If not - then there is probably a big under the hood fuse dead.
Or the fuse box may be loose.

I don't have a schematic. Sorry.

Hi Rover community. Wanted to post a reply to this thread. I recently realized that my ODB II port went dead when I went to check codes when my Service Engine Soon light went on and the Disco was running a bit rough. Thanks @jw928 for this post about jumping a wire to the purple power wire in the back of the port. Worked like a charm. Got my codes, now on to fixing the issue. The hardest part of this was getting the port out of the panel so I could better access the wires. I used an inline fuse and a quick connect on the purple wire. Also thanks to @mln01 for stopping by with his Hawkeye to read the codes. Great Rover community here in Charlotte.

Will eventually need to check into the headers under the passenger side dash to solve the power issue to ODB port and dome lights, etc.. But that's another day.

I was happy to help you yesterday morning.

Now that I've seen what you needed to do to get the OBD II socket working again, you could get power it permanently by using an Add-A-Circuit adapter. I have two installed in my truck - one to make the lighter socket always on, and one that powered a GPS I no longer have so that I didn't need to use the lighter socket.

I would be very easy to run a wire from an Add-A-Circuit plugged into the Fuse 20 receptacle in the passenger compartment fuse box to the quick connect on the purple wire, bypassing header C0294, which is inconveniently located behind the fuse box (according to the pic in the DII Electrical Library).

Just Google "add-a-circuit." They're sold at most auto parts stores. In fact, I'd be happy to give you the one from my truck that powered the GPS. Please text me if you're interested.
