I used the Edelbrock gasket you spec'd and it worked perfectly. It doesn't need to be stupid tight either, thanks to its design. That upgrade is definitely worth considering.

Engine temps are solid I have one small leak in the housing to deal with, I estimate about a 6-8 degree drop in running temps. I did a regular route where I would hit 199 highest post change was 194, more importantly any increase in rpm quickly drops the temp. Still have a bit of air in the system from the leak.

Still fighting the air in the system, but that is a time issue. 92 F here driving up about 10% -11% grade with 4 stops at 20 miles an hour barely 1200 -1400 rpm. Highest temp was 203 then the clutch kicked in immediate drop to 197 as the fan spun up, with a rise at each stop as expected to around 199-201. It is about 500m from the last stop to home down hill, 186 from 199 when I stopped in the driveway, never broke 1100 rpm.
Check the coolant down about 1/2 in inch or so, topped it up still have some air in there, but it will work it's way out lots of steep hills around here to push it up.

Prior to the mod 205-207 on that route

Another a happy customer.

Not too bad 107F the Disco ran between 210 in stop and go and 197 - 194 at 50mph. You really can not ask for better than that. And I know the fan clutch is working nice roar moving off from lights. Ac seem to add about +3 deg F

That is a crazy ambient! 194-197 is great for the ambient, I assume that is with the AC running. 210 stop and go not bad either. BTW, factory water pump does not flow enough water at idle to keep the temps down in hot weather with the AC running. If you buzz the engine to about 1500 it will come right down.

@Extinct exactly what I found get her settled around 1800 - 2000 and she most happy. 194 -197 is no ac adding the AC I ran 197 to 201, I do not mind the heat so I run it in bursts. And yes those are insane temps for around here 80 - 86 is normal. Getting very hot going to hit 110-111 I think the next 2 days and forest fires are a real problem right now.

My literal hotspot was 217 idling for 10 minutes while I got hold of a family to deliver an A/C unit we not longer use, dropped to 210 in 100m when I drove up to her. I had been moving pretty slow prior so not unexpected.

Is there an upgraded higher flow water pump you've found to work better?

@DCDisco2 None that I have been able to find, we have a pretty low Idle 650 rpm and if everything else is working good it take a bit for the fan clutch to lock up. But I posted a question on Brit Rover V8 facebook page I follow, some of those build race engine so they might know

A lot of folks living in hot territories run add-on electric pumps as well as full replacement electric pumps to deal with the low RPM low water volume issue. I bet if you search you will find examples of D2's running these pumps.

@TimInNova That is what the race engine builders recommend, pricey though. They recommend the 150 size.
