Default Oil cooler connections - which is outbound

Just a question I am finally getting ready to install my oil pressure gauge, my 04 does not have an oil cooler.

It is in my mind the best place to check pressure is at the outbound line, the RAVE is suitably vague on this.

Does anyone know if the which port on the front cover is outbound the upper or lower port - or does it even matter for an oil pressure gauge

The optimum measurement point is behind the oil filter, since the oil filter reduces the pressure by 1..4 psi depending on rpm. You need a 1/2-20 UNF to a whatever adapter, which fits your oil pressure sensor.

Both oil cooler ports are before the filter.
