Default Oil filter adapter assembly?

I am replacing the gasket on the oil filter adapter assembly. I removed the four bolts, now it won't come off. No avail on pulling it off but it will spin. While spinning or screwing off it stops at the one corner just above the oil pan corner on the engine block. Funny thing was that I thought I had to drop the oil pan to get to the oil filter adapter.

You have to pull it straight out, there is an smaller O-ring inside that expands from heat & oil after so many years of use, (so it spins easy but doesn't pull off), just pull the elbow piece out straight & it will come off with a little more force,

Thank you. I got it this time. Replacing the O ring regardless of condition. Now I'll need to hunt that O ring down since AB and my local dealer has told me that it's a discontinued part.

O-ring will be no problem. The LR part number might be "discontinued", but they still make the exact same part. Take the old one down to your local parts store and tell them you need a new one. They keep assorted sizes in stock and it will probably cost you $1.

Unless I'm missing something here the O ring for the oil filter adapter is not NLA. The part number is ERR7308 and both US and Euro sites still list it as live.
>> SEARCH the part number, here's more than a start for you....

Even AB shows them as in stock > O Ring Engine Oil Filter Adapter (Genuine Part # ERR7308 ) - Land Rover gaskets and seals from Atlantic British

RN > O RING OIL FILTER ADAPTR DISCOVERY II V-8, RNS580, ERR7308 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts

Discovery Oil Filter Adaptor O Ring ERR7308

LAND ROVER ENGINE OIL FILTER ADAPTER ORING DISCOVERY 2 II 99-04 ERR7308 OEM | Miami British Corp.

AND the smaller O ring (ERR5888) that goes on the adapter #14 in the pic (ERR5887) is also a live part number. But again I might be missing something here.
AB> Land Rover Parts, Accessories and Information

RN> Discovery II Engine Oil Pump - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts
