Oil light in the dash lighting up occasionally? I need some advice

I personally am surprised I haven't had to replace my hood cable yet as often as I'm opening the hood to check all fluids (and the only thing that leaks is the timing cover seal, and it's slight)

Default i used 15-30 weight mobile synthetic.

I guess the truck wasnt bone dry but I got lazy and hadn't popped the hood in a while. I detailed the truck this weekend and did a thorough cleaning inside and out including a waxing. Its got some scratches on it but i don't want to pay for touch up paint.
