Could I disconnect the inertia switch and crank it over?

There should be a yellow relay under the hood with a pic of an engine on it iirc

Well, I have been cranking it over for what seams like minutes and the oil light is still on. Maybe the cam bearings have moved and are v\blocking an oil port.

I think I am going to do the job over again.

How did you get the fan off? mine just spins. Clutch spins independent of nut/shaft. Belt wont hold fan enough to break nut/fan ?

I have a fan clutch tool.

Some people have had success tightening the tensioner pulley, then hit the wrench abruptly to release the nut.

Check Amazon for fan clutch tool, I have the craftsman one. Or local auto parts will rent you one.

Re did my work last night, putting on the pan this morning. The gear I bought did have the bevel.

Yea I got the 2 tools. Put the one on the fan clutch does nothing as my clutch/fan spins freely while holding the nut.....Mabey my fan clutch is sheared inside? could you just freewheel your fan/clutch with everything hooked up? I CAN.. Its like I would need to hold the water pump shaft still while loosening nut. Thinking bigger strap wrench on pump pully after removing belt (again)....thanks for quick reply..

The fan normally spins independent of the nut... that's how they're designed. You have to hold the pulley to undo the nut, not the fan clutch. An easy way to do it is hold the pulley by hand and hit the edge of the nut with an air chisel. Can also do like abran said and hit the end of the steel wrench on the nut with a hammer while the pulley and belt are still on. Sometimes that's enough to break it loose.

Hope that helps.

New timing cover with new oil pump gear installed. Car knocked at first start start up. Shut it down, started again. Knocking went away as well as oil light.

I have a slight tick now. I filled it with water for testing, will add coolant once it cools down and some lucas oil treatment.

Overall, pretty happy with the result. Plenty of power, etc. Going to take it to a master tech later today for his opinion.

Don't disconnect the serpentine belt since this offer resistance by holding the pulley and preventing from spinning free, just stick the fan clutch wrench on the hex nut and whack it with a rubber mallet, it will come off
