Oil pump removal
Well oil in antifreeze in and started it up ran it for a few as I still have a few more things to finish up but wanted to get a the oil circulating and coolant to bleed a little.
have to say I think it sounded better too

The bolts Rover used in the cross bars are very mild steel and one (or more) always seems to snap off. Good tip is to replace those with Grade 8 bolts with bigger heads and Never-Seez the heck out of them when reinstalling. You can chisel out the captured nuts on the broken bolts and replace those with new nuts on the top side.

Man, I had such a problem with the cross bar bolts. There's zero logic to using an M8 fastener with an M6 head on it in this location. After snapping 6 of 8 on the front bar and spending 3 hours with a chisel and drill, and then snapping all 4 on one side of the rear bar, I used a speed wrench on the last bit then welded it back together to reinstall it. Rover "engineers" really blew it on that one.

I can't believe that oil pump built pressure. Didi you get a reading beforehand?

I have two D2's. Four crossbars. Eight bolts per crossbar.
Not a single bolt would come loose. I hate them.
Ended up grinding off the heads and welding up any gouges in the mounting pads. Definitely going to find better hardware when it comes to putting them back on.

After the heads snap off you can use a punch or drift to slam the bolts through from the bottom side. In my experience this breaks the entire bolt loose and removes the captured nut from the top side as well clearing the way for a new bolt and nut.
