They don't allow for too many customizations as far as I am aware, and I have already selected the engine and parts so that ship has mostly sailed. I am open to exhaust customizations for sure, but live in California where it can be hard to pass smog with aftermarket emission parts. I will have to investigate what exhaust the truck has on it already. What would you recommend?

Man, I remember the days of Disco Mike where everyone said "You can't make a single more horse power out of these engines". Now we are talking about cams, heads, and exhausts like this is a Subaru forum .

Thanks for the interest and replies everyone, this is going to be great!

My exhaust manifolds were much smaller than the stock cylinder head ports. I enlarged both, and considering you have the ported head, maybe the shop has the ability to just do the exhaust manifolds so they are not restrictive, not really difficult or time consuming as you don’t need them polished. I didn’t spend more than a couple of hours, and I am a rank amateur.

Who knows, maybe I am nuts, but you might as welll if the manifolds are off.

This is great - thanks for starting this thread. Also looking at a long block from Turner and hoping to do this in the next couple of months. Search the forum - there's some other posts from folks that have gone the Turner route.

What’s the point of speeding up the air flow to slam it into a wall at the exhaust manifold?

this was my rationale.

Talk to Dan or Mark at D&D Fabrications, in Michigan. These guys have been building/modifying 215's since the beginning of time. They can give you a little insight to what works and what doesn't.
