Default P1174 and M+S flashing

HI,

I'm not sure these two things are interrelated or not. This morning when backing out of a parking space and going from R to D there was a louder than normal clunk as it went into Reverse. Shortly after driving about half a mile the M+S lights came on and were flashing as was the D on the dash and the shifter column. I was able to reproduce the flashing while parked in my driveway going through the gears. When the M+S lights are flashing when going into R there is a clunk. When the M+S lights are not flashing it goes into R normal. (I will check the battery first).

Later today when I started the car the pending code P1174 came up on my ultraguage. Are these two items related?

Engine is a new long block from AB, New front drive shaft and rear shaft coupling. I have been looking for leaks in the sunroofs and windshield A-pillars so the headliner is out and some things not connected. I changed the gear box and differential F/R oil about 500 miles ago. Another item that is new is the intake airbox assembly.

Can low voltage issue cause both issues? I have searched about the M+S lights and understand what to look for. I was wondering if the P1174 code pointed to something connected to reduce possibilities.

Thanks Bill

Low voltage will toss the M&S every time, I get randomly if my disco has only done short trips and sits for 5 or more days. If I shutdown then restart right aways they go out,the when I get home I toss the battery charger on. My Disco will start with 11.6 volts so I see M&S off an on if I get lazy about the the charger.

The voltage of the battery after sitting for 2 days is about 12.7. I think the battery is ok. I think moving the gear select lever from R to D to quickly made it confused? It has not happened again. I’ll keep an eye out for it and dig into it more if it becomes a regular issue.

also the P1174 code has not come up last few drives after I cleared it.
