Default Parking brake light on

2003 North American D2

My parking brake light remains on. I've tried the easy fix of spraying WD-40 under the boot in the center console and sprayed everywhere I could where the cable attaches at the drum after the transferase.

Any ideas where I should go from here?

Hey Ken. Check the brake fluid level.

The brake warning light also illuminates if the brake fluid is low in the master cylinder reservoir. It could also illuminate due to a faulty switch, either for the hand brake or the master cylinder fluid level.

Also illuminates for a hard abs sensor fault - hard as in zero signal.

Great. Next question -- why was the brake fluid low?

Most commonly it's the rubbery seals at the master cylinder. Does anything look "wet" there?

The reason the brake fluid was low was because of user error.

I had replaced the brake booster a couple of months ago and I think I just barely filled it up to the minimum line.

In this case pilot error is a good outcome! It means there's likely nothing else wrong, i.e. no leaking master cylinder.
