Man, the gadgets keep coming!
I bought the Eastwood hot melt stapler, that will be the structural repair.
But what you just posted looks great for filling the crack.
I think I will do the staples then use a chemical filler like JB weld or bondo.
Does anybody have any better ideas for filler?

I usually reinforce 2 part epoxy (mainly because I always have it available for woodworking, but works and sands perfectly on plastic, too) mixed thinner so easier to get a more complete fill than jbweld.
after that I like jb over bondo because of the size of the filled surface (usually a narrow repair).
