Default Power Window Intermittent Electrical Failure

I just purchased a very well maintained 2004 Disco II with 92K miles with an intermittent electrical issue with the driver's power window.

When the temperature inside the vehicle is warm after a sunny day the power window operates normally. However, when it is cold in the morning hours here in the Pacific Northwest - (yes, we see upper 50's to low 60's in July), you can hear the relay switch activate under the passage seat but nothing from the motor in the driver's door. It's obvious there is an expansion / contraction of wiring or some other component due to the ambient temperature fluctuations ,however, I'm at a loss as where to start tracking this down. Although the power window motors have a high failure rate in the Disco II's, my first though is there is an issue from the relay to the motor.

Before digging into this I would like to hear from others who may have experienced this issue. Thanks in advance.

Check the window power wires that travel from the body to the door inside the flexible rubber tube. They are pretty thick (14Ga?) and have a tendency to break from fatigue after a few thousand door open/close cycles.

It is more likely to be the motor if you can hear the relay activating

If you have a "helper" have them hold the window button down (or up as the case may be) and open the door and move it back-and-forth. If the power wire is broken inside the rubber conduit the window may move proving my theory of a broken wire. Let us know what you find.

Thank you both for your input. My thinking has been focusing on the door area as well so I'm glad to hear this was your first thought too. Now, I just have to wait until it's cold enough in the mornings to test the theory; which could be a white, right? I'll keep you posted and, again, thank you for your input!
