Prince Charming has completed the headgasket repair.
I think he read this thread, that is where he got the idea about the extra holes, unless you told him this. I will show him after work. I think when he gets home today he is gonna make sure there is no air in the antifreeze. Then go to the parts store and see if they will let us rent a gauge, to check the temp.
Bought a new inline last night on EBay, but I think he is thinking about drilling more holes in this thermostat first, yeah drain the coolant for a third time! He will check in tonight

He is a Building Inspector. There is something wrong when I have read so many of these damn threads that I feel like I know how to fix it
at first I thought the t-stat just read the temp, so trying to understand why I couldn't drive it figuring he fixed everything so it was not overheating anymore, haha. Now I understand it opens and closes for coolant. The thread " the T - stat and you" was very informative.

Indeed. And having worked in the building trades for many, many moons; I know it is pointless to argue with an inspector if you don't have the facts in black and white (color is even better). You won't win, and it will just make them look more carefully...
Don't get me wrong... the inspector is a very important "un-paid" member and un-biased member of the team. Some one has to control the architects....
