Pulling my hair out over this transmission temp light

shoot the end of the cooler where the sensor is, and the tcase. Did you unplug the ATF sensor to confirm that was the one setting the light?

Where are you getting that number? Trans oil starts to burn in the 220*F-240*F range.

Just the temp that was in my head from when I dealt with mine, don't remember seeing a number mentioned in the RAVE. It's not like the idiot lights are meant to really save our vehicles. ie Coolant temp gauge, isn't the consensus if the gauge is reading high it's too late.

yes I uunplugged the front sensor and the light immediately went out

Right, you have a bad sensor then, assuming the trans temp is normal (shoot with IR gun).

got a temp gun coming in the mail and plan on grabbing a couple sensors from the junkyard tmw. Will post an update!

Fixed!! Was just a sensor. Went and got 2 from the junkyard. Slapped one on. Topped off the ATF. Drove it hard for 30 min and still no light. I temped the radiator and the tranny cover and both were reading 150 to 160. Thank you all for the help!
