Mine was between 2 cylinders on the driver side of the engine. Its not uncommon. It did have a misfire as well and all was taken care of with head gasket job. when buying a rover I assume head gasket every dang time....and drive shaft

$600!
I need a deal like that!
If the block is good, that truck is a money maker.
Throw a grand in it and sell it for $3k-$3500!

Default Update on the $500 Discovery

Im back with some results. I performed a compression test on the bock and it looks like I have some leakage in more than one cylinder.

Results:

Back
150 125
150 0
150 55
170 150
Front

So obviously there is an issue with the drivers side gasket towards the back. The previous owner had engine work done that required removing the heads, so Im assuming that it was incorrectly reinstalled.

So I think I'm going to attempt this job DIY, If you have ever replaced the head gasket on a rover, any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Possible but it could be the rocker shaft is fawked and the valves aren't closing. Pull a valve cover and have a look first
