okay, so I have the new wires collecting dust and need to get them installed. but not this weekend, this one is slated for the fan clutch and heater hoses/heater matrix flush/back flush. having read the 'how-to w/o removing the IM' thread, and the 'P38 top end rebuild' thread, but having done neither job myself, is it that difficult/time consuming to remove the IM to replace the wires? (btw, my local indy shop guy also recommended removing the IM, but I'm still not too sure about those guys). why is it that it's so common to replace the wires w/o taking off the IM? thanks....

 

just a few bolts (6/8) to remove im. not necessary if you can stick yo hand back there. I lubed up my forearm and it took less than 20 minutes for plugs and wires and a beer
