Questions on Common Problems
This is my first thread on this forum, so I hope this is the right spot! I drove a Disco II about 2 years ago at my old shop and secretly fell in love with them. Well now after catching the Colorado mountain trail bug, I have a stronger urge to buy a Disco 2 and upgrade it for the mountains. When I buy one, i need to know common failure points so I can prepare and know what to look for.
I plan on LS swapping it (since I'm a GM guy at heart) which I think is a much better engine than the factory 4.0/4.6 engines. That gets rid of a lot of problems, but what else is common for going bad? I currently have the ignition lock, window regulators, ABS module, and the front driveshaft issue noted. Any other help would be appreciated!

Check the stickies at the top of this section there is a lot of great info there. It sounds like you have most of the common issues listed. I would have the codes read if you have the 3 amigos as it's often a bad hub or abs sensor and not the module itself. Where abouts in CO? There is a decently active amount of Rovers around the Denver area

I live in the Aspen/Snowmass area of Colorado (3.5 hours from Denver), but I wanna travel all over the rockies for trails. August 16th I was in the Telluride area, spending about 6 hours on 2 trails.
This is a modified version of the 60k service list that might be of some help. It's not strictly common failure points, and you're taking care of most of them with an LS swap, but there might be some things there that could be of help.

Aside from that, here's a bunch if mods I've done for various reasons. Again, a lot of it will go out the window with an engine swap, but some may be helpful. There's a link in there to a similar compilation that another user made that could be helpful.

Really, the engine is the weakest link in the chain. Getting an LS motor in there is going to bring you up to a similar class (reliability wise) as anything else in the class.
