Default Small Modification Write Ups + Index of Mods (Alex_M)

Ok guys, I'm going to compile a list of smaller mods I do here. These are just mods that aren't big enough for their own posts but I think are worth sharing anyway. And of course, I'll do an index right here on the first post with links to each mod's respective page. Keep an eye out on here because I will keep it updated semi-regularly.

Some prices will change over time. The posts reflect the price of parts at the time of my writing the write up and will not likely be updated later.

Some of these write ups are pretty old at this point. Feel free to as clarifying questions. Some products may no longer be available, but most should be and hopefully alternatives are available for those that are not.

Commonly searched information:

Keep your Disco cooler in the sun ($55)

This one is most recommended to do while you have your headliner out. Go on amazon and buy a roll of Reflectix. Take that and cut it to fit in the roof of your disco. Tape it up there and then re-install your headliner. I noticed a difference in temperature as soon as I finished the first row across and I've noticed a difference every morning and day since. This is a big one, especially if you don't like to use your A/C. It should also keep it warmer in the winter. Also, you can see I got the 24"x50' roll of Reflectix. Don't get one that big unless you're also planning to make window covers (I am) because you'll have a ton left over.

I'll do one for those two fans once I get the chance.

Reverse lights that will blind you ($22)

Very simple. These are two LED light bars, $11 each shipped, and they will splice right into the factory wiring. There are no relays needed because the wiring is the same gauge as the factory wiring. They are not getting warm at all and they work 10x better than the factory reverse lights with LED bulbs.

Alex,
I am definitely going to do the insulation mod, when the headliner job comes up. I am also contemplating getting all the windows tinted as dark as allowed by law, including the moonroofs.
I also came across an old thread, relating to under the hood light. I have had Chevy trucks since God knows when, and they use to put in a retractible light that extends 18' and has its own switch. I found a seller on eBay that sells them for 29.95 which includes the wire connector(gm sells light and connector separately for around 80.00). The light itself has a magnetic base and can be stuck wherever you need it. GM mounted it on the fender well, but I saw where a guy mounted it on his hood, in the center, where it would light up the hole engine and could easily be pulled out to either side as needed.

I am assuming for ventilation. It is Alex's picture. I am going to install the insulation, shown, but not the fans.

Creates extra downforce at the back. More tyre grip. Extra acceleration getting away from stop lights.

Default Another cheap mod

My E-brake boots were shot and clips broken on moonroof sunshades. Got the fix here:
