Exclamation Radiator hose t fitting

Hello! Im new to the forum and a proud owner of a 1999 land rover discovery 2! I am in the process of replacing the upper radiator hose and the T fitting is rotted! I found a metal replacement in 5/8 size. I can't find anything in terms of the size of the fitting here! Will this work? I also feel the need to change the coolant and do a flush. The truck runs excellent! I've read on head gasket problems. What's the cause of that? Should I add some steel seal as a preventative measure? Is prestone coolant alright?

Thank you all!

Do not add sealant what ever you do that stuff is evil.

Head gasket issues arise from over heating this is an all aluminum engine too much heat things warp. They will go eventually, but if you manage your cooling system, get a odb dongle and monitor your temps while driving you should be ok.

As to the T-fitting they die plastic, hot fluid and time. You can pick up a complete upper hose set a Rockauto for 30.00 US. Just replace the works then you have good upper hoses and a new t fitting.

This is the exact T-fitting I purchased from Canada for $45. It's now for $68.
It's been a year and I've had no problems with it. It has quality welds. Think someone on the forums makes it.

I can second the one on ebay and will say it's worth the $$$. I completely rebuilt my cooling system 18 months ago (new radiator, all new hoses, new expansion tank and low temp thermostat). Last month my plastic T connector developed a crack and the month before that the cheap expansion tank developed a crack/leak.

Don't cheap out on the cooling system would be my advice. Also don't add any sealant to your system!

You will read a lot of stuff about Dexcool on here. Not sure I agree with it all or not but I'm running Zerex G-05 as my coolant. It's compatible with our systems and doesn't carry the baggage that Dexcool does. I think actually changing out your coolant every 2 years with a flush is the key but just in case why risk it.

I know it can get expensive but overheating is probably one of the biggest killers of Disco engines. Replace all of the hoses and do a proper flush and consider adding an OEM low temp thermostat. They really keep the temps down on a Disco and are probably some of the best bang for the buck you can put on your rig.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the forum. When you have questions post them here. Tons of great info too. I've never had a problem that I couldn't solve by doing some reading on this forum.

X2 for Valvoline’s Zerex G-05 coolant. I’ve been running it for the past year after I changed to the 180 degree thermostat.
I’ve had great temps after doing that.

Definitely don’t go cheap on your coolant system.

I paid 45.00 for the one from that custom Jag shop & sadly I got taken for a ride. No refund, no aluminum T with a bleeder....

For sure there is a copper 'T' from plumbing supplies that fits. I did it and never failed.

Thats nice and I get better heat dissipation. Where can I find that? Also my radio decided to die on me. I checked the fuses on the radio and under the panel. I found a replacement. I have the harman kardon premium system. Will this upgraded replacement work in place of my radio part number XQD101390LNF.

I know its the head unit because my tape player was acting up and switching from side 1 and 2.
