Default Rear Park Assist

Searched the DII forums, and did not readily see anything on this. Is it possible/practical to add the rear park assist option onto a 2004 Disco SE? Would it typically be prewired for this? Vehicle is for my daughter, and just trying to give her a slight edge in that department...............Thanks.

I believe the connector for the button on the dash binnacle is present, but the harness at the rear to the sensors is not.

Even if you succeed to adding all the hardware, the software will have to be activated in the BECM.

That is a great point. Thanks.

An 04 vehicle will be wired from the binnacle to the LH rear wiring compartment.

There will be a pre-wired switch connector clipped into the rear of the switch blank in the bottom left position in the binnacle.

Behind the LH grill in the load compartment, you'll find the connectors for the PDC ECU -

C0957 and C0958 are for the PDC ECU

C0987 is for the PDC speaker

Here's a clearer picture of the three connectors -

You will also require the rear bumper harness and sensors.

Underneath the vehicle, in the LH rear corner, you should find the 6-way connector where the bumper harness connects -

From Land Rover - Part number YMD001410 (callout 1) -

YMD001410 | REAR PARKING SENSOR LOOM DIS11 | Land Rover | Discovery 2 - 1999 to 2004 | Britcar (UK) Ltd

Unless you can pickup the parts cheap from a scrap yard, they cost a fortune new from Land Rover.

You would be better off fitting an aftermarket kit from eBay.

If you were to fit an aftermarket kit, there's an ignition-switched live (Light Green/Orange trace), and reversing lights circuit (Green/Brown trace) in C0958

Why not just buy one of the aftermarket camera kits? I would bet for the time and money you would have a better result.

Thanks

The part number for the kit is STC50424AA. It's crazy money new. It would probably be easiest to find an HSE and rob all of the parts.
