Default Rear wiper modification how-to

Frustrated that I couldn't find rear wiper blades locally, and that none of the inserts would fit into POS plastic (can you see my hatred and discontent towards plastic components yet?) wiper blades, I ventured to do what no one has done. Fitting "normal" steel, locally available blades into stock rear wiper arm... Now if I could find a steel wiper arm that would fit... Purists need not read further!

1. Remove spare wheel, and #13 nut that secures wiper arm to its axle.

2. Pop off stock wiper from its clip careful not to break POS plastic arm/clip.

3. Cut a vertical "notch" across wiper arm until about the depth of thinner wiper clip. Use the following picture to reference where to cut.

4. Cut horizontally from the outer thinner clip end until you reach your vertical notch. Do it nice and pretty.

5. Repeat on opposite side. Now, take your choice of sandpaper and sand cut areas until smooth.

6. Match your new rear wiper blade to arm, I found out that if it doesn't want to go in one way, just flip it and it should pop in. I used channel-lock pliers to aid in seating new blade into its retaining slot.

7. Repeat disassembly instructions in reverse order to reassemble everything back together (usually how it always works). Drink beer and be proud and happy now you can locally find a cheap steel wiper blade, or simply swap a new refill into your "normal blade"
