removing the key blade from the remote?
As mentioned earlier I got a used key/remote on Ebay that is useless to me as I did not get the bar code tag needed to program it. But I realized that the remote housing itself is in near new condition and my old one is not so I was struck with the idea of transferring my circuit board and key shank in the new one.
Only one problem, I can't figure out how to get the key shank out of it and mine to swap.
Any ideas? I am under the impression that the key shank can be replaced in case you damage yours and need one recut but maybe I saw it in a Land Rover dream I must have had one night! i seem to be having a lot of those recently!

hi, sometimes the shank pops out, other times its glued in due to a tsb years ago
that told the techs to glue it in if the custermer complained about falling out.

I just got my 2000 D2 back in October...my remote fob has seperated from the key shank a couple times now while in the ignition. Mine is kind of loose though. You might try putting the key in a vise and try working the remote loose that way. I don't recommend doing it while in the ignition...don't want to damage anything there.
is their anyway to just get a shank key cut without out a fob so it can be hidden on the vehicle so if i need to get it i still can with out the fob like when the dog locks you out when you are in bfe and need to get back in
