Ok, so my previous post about a boiling/overheating 95 discovery got resolved by swapping radiators with my other discovery.

My question... Should I take the suspect radiator, have it tested and possibly rebuilt, or should I simply replace it?

Have it repaired. It will save you a lot of money. There's a shop in Sheridan off I70 that my buddy uses and they do good work for good prices. I can get you the name and address if you want.

 

If it is out of a 95, it could be too warn out to rod out, might be able to recore it, but I would go with a good after market radiator and start over.

If the tanks are good on yours (the radiator shop can tell you) then just have it recored. The stock tanks are pretty good, but most of the after market ones are thinwalled crap from what I've heard. I had the one from my Disco recored with a heavy duty core and it's been fine.
The odds of it just being rodded and holding up for any length of time are pretty slim. The crud in one that old is probably blocking leaks in the tubes.

 

I agree with Tom on the recore, if possible. If not possible, do a Google search for radiators and you'll find lots of them.

Don't recall it being THAT expensive though. You'd want the crossflow model.
