I had the front springs replaced over five years ago. I believe the front shocks were changed out at that time too, I'd have to check. It's a possibility that the coils were receiving the brunt of the work over the years - don't know. I just assumed that this issue with springs on my Rover was a case of bad manufacturing. I suppose another option is that I overloaded the Rover at one point in time and it couldn't handle the stress. Thinking back though, I've loaded her down over the past two years more than any other time. Either way, I'll have 4 functional coil springs after this week. And 'yes', the shocks will be replaced too

Yes, if the springs were swapped over 5 years ago, and the shocks 'might' have been done, I'd suspect that as the reason your springs are failing. Not manufacturing. Or loading really. If the shocks are in good order they take the brunt of the grief. That's their whole whole job, to smooth out the drive, by squeezing fluid through small holes. That process takes a little bit of time, which stops the spring uncontrollably bouncing.

You will sometimes follow a vehicle with shot shocks on the road. It's the car with the back wheels rapidly bouncing up and down, even over relatively smooth ground. Driver might have no real idea it's happening.

Good luck getting it all done. The ride difference should be amazing.

Thanks cappedup. All 3 coil springs were broken at the same time. Knock on wood but I haven't had any new issues with coil springs since that time. And yes, I've been watching other Rovers on the road and noticed that many of the DI's driving by are bouncing all over the place on smooth pavement. Looks like something out of a cartoon

Hope you get a chance to visit Cornwall soon. Thanks for the follow-up. I'll update when I get Bertha back this week.

Just an update. Had the OME coil springs and new stock shocks installed on Friday, along with new rear rotors, calipers and brake pads, new tie rods and front wheel bearings and it drives like a dream. There were no issues using stock shocks with the OME coil springs I purchased. Thanks for the advice everyone. I appreciate it

Oh, and the rear has definitely been lifted. I equate it to feeling like someone is looking up my skirt, but oh well.. it is what it is I need to work on cleaning up the underside now. I'd say it raised it 1.5" just like the advertisement stated.
