Default Made my own Airbox Fabric Flex Hose

I decided to try and make my own flex hose that connects to the air box and save about $50. I used aluminum foil tape and plastic from a used jug of engine coolant. I first cut out all of the old cloth and wire wrap from the hose that was deteriorated and reused the rubber ends. I cut a piece of plastic from the coolant jug the size of 2.5 inches by a little over 11 inches and put that in place of the cloth/wire. After that I wrapped it up with several layers of foil tape. I put a bit of vaseline on each of the rubber hoses and it all snapped together easily. When I buy some black scotch tape, I'll wrap it up again so it'll be black. The flow is the same volume and the structure is pretty solid.

Yeah on my 99 D2 before the well made kit by Abran was available I just went onto Ebay and bought some 3.5 inch silicone tubing which I think was 10-12inches long. Cut to the proper length and all just used two SS Hose clamps I got at my local hardware store. It cost like 12.00 for the silicone hose off of Ebay.

Just a note on the rubber coupler, be careful with how tight you clamp it on. The fender elbow piece actually warped and caved in so to speak from the clamp being too tight and it getting so hot under the hood. I had to take a heat gun to it to get it back to the right shape.

I put the rubber one in, too. Have to watch position of the inner aluminum rings, so they don't slip on install. I'm happy with the fit and quality. My kit had the intake elbow and red rubber gaskets. Here is just the hose....

there are several vendors selling the same kit.....
