Replacing a torque coverter
I am replacing a transmission on my 2000 Disco II. The case got cracked when the front drive shaft broke loose. I need to add the torque converter to the new tranny. Do I need to fill it first, or when I start the engine the pump will fill it and I have to maintain filling the tranny pan as it runs?
Also, how to align the torque converter to insure it is seated correctly?
This is the first LR I have owned, it is a bit different to work on, but having a growing appreciation for them.
Much appreciate your help.

@BPillen266 it is easy to screw up - if you can afford the tow and cost get a transmission ship to put it in. If not get a copy of the RAVE and read through the procedure. 44.37 has the refit but there is whole section just on the transmission
Thank you, will look this up. I believe I have the procedure for installing and measuring to ensure it is seated and will have clearance when installing the tranny. What I have not seen is if you need to refill the torque converter before you install it. I will look for RAVE.
Thanks again,
Thanks again,
Usual pour a quart in, lubes needle bearings on center hub of converter. I've never installed a converter, new, without filling somewhat first.
While installing converter, tilt trans higher at front, slide converter onto main shaft, holding as straight as possible and turning gentle as you go. It will make three or four positive alignments fellings...but the last one is the most crucial. Normally, once the converter is all the way in...you can not fit your fingers between back of converter and bell housing.
