Apologies in advance for the rookie question. I just removed by heads and will be replacing the coils, spark plugs and wires...among other things. I have the coil diagrams and am going to connect before reinstalling against the firewall. I ordered Magnecor 8mm but was sent 8.5mm..which is an upgrade, I guess, despite the thicker wires and the wire looms. All of that said, I noticed that every wire is a slightly different length which I expected. Since I do not have the heads installed to test, I wanted to ensure I put the correct wires (based on length) in the right coil position. Attached is a picture of the wires laid out by length.
Is it appropriate to assume the longest wire (right side) in considered #1 and so on the left?
Isn’t there only one way they will all fit for you?
Remind yourself to secure the larger wires once installed. I believe the cradle support to fit the original 7mm will not accept your larger wires; so if they droop and make contact with your manifold - you’ll be ordering new wires.
Thanks SundayFunday. You are probably correct re one way they will all fit. Just trying to figure that out in advance. I have my heads in the shop and am getting things ready to piece back together. The ignition coil is a real pain to get to with everything in place. I was hoping to wire the coil in advance (correctly). Also, great point on the larger wires and contact with manifold. I plan to pick up some 8mm wire looms.
