Here in WA the auto parts store will just hand you the scanner (after you leave your deposit) and let you walk out to the parking lot and let you do the reading and resetting yourself.
You might try that if needed but the real answer is the Ultra Gauge.

I got impatient and went out and bought a Actron CP9125 from AutoZone for $59.99 and erased the code. Its actually not a bad scanner for the price.
Service Engine light has not come back on and I have driven about 50mi. Will have a lot more driving his weekend so hopefully it does not come back and those codes were just the brain of the car being confused due to a few glitches on my part.
The Ultra Gauge is probably a lot better than the Actron and if you can wait for it to ship, I would definitely look into getting one of those. Here is the website if people are interested. UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center
