I experienced those exact symptoms with my Rover. New Magnecor 8mm wires and 7318 Champion plugs will fix it up. As far as the MAF, it seems the knee jerk reaction on this forum is to blame a K&N air filter and run off to purchase a new MAF. Be caution and take it one step at a time. Replacing parts willie nillie (technical term) only drains you pocketbook. Here is a thread on K&N filters.
