Service Engine Light Stalling & Not Starting
I have seen similar posts here, but none with all of the similarities of my situation.
I have a 2003 Discovery S with 98K miles. I have only had it a few months, but I think I know why the previous owner sold it.
I have what I think is one problem that manifests itself in two different ways. But is not consistent in any way. It could go weeks without either of these happening.
First. After I have been driving for at least 15 to 30 minutes, the Service Engine will come on and flash a couple of times. When this happens, sometimes the car just dies right there. Other times, it seems to cut out for a few seconds, but then keeps going in Limp mode M&S lights flashing.
The second way the problem is this If I have been out driving for at least 30 minutes, I arrive at my destination with no problems at all. However, from time to time, if I go to restart the car around 15 to 30 minutes later, it will not turn over. It will crank and crank but its like it is not getting any fuel. The Service Engine Light will be on at this point. Almost like a vapor locking.
In either of these situations, if I let the car sit for a while an hour or so, or overnight for sure The car will start right up no problem. The Service Engine Light may or may not be on after I have let it sit and start later.
One of the times the Service Engine light was on, I had the codes read P1412, P1415, P1884, P0455
Any help or insight will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mike

One thing I notice right off the bat here, the P0455 and the P1412 & P1415 are related to two things with connectors that can accidentally get switched. They are the same connector, just different colors and they are right next to each other. One goes to the purge valve and one goes to the SAI valve. They are on the driver side up near the back of the intake manifold.
I don't have my truck here to check which one goes where... but that's how I keep it in running order. Leave it at the shop! LOL!!
You should be able to search for which one goes where. There are probably even pictures of this. It's happened to a lot of people after doing head gaskets or intake manifold jobs.
Good luck and let us know what you find.
