Default Service Engine Soon Light

Anyone have some advice: My service engine light came on and I am wondering if it will clear provided I correct the problem after getting the code, etc OR am I at the mercy of the dealer to clear the issue/light? I have had a few problems with my 03 Disco. I have already replaced the front drive shaft and just upgraded to 04 transfer case with CDL. I went ahead and replaced all four O2 sensors with the exhaust down. I read a recent post about bad cats??? How common is this problem. This week is my priority to get the codes for my warning light...I will be in touch. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Anybody with a OBDII scanner can read and cear your codes. AutoZone for example. Get the codes read and then we will go from there.
