Default Shocks, Lift and where to getem

Hello everyone!
Two weeks ago I became the proud owner of a D2. Got it from Norway, drove it 1000 miles back home by myself, did the customs, bla bla bla. Amazing adventure, 10/10 would definitely do it again no matter what anyone says. Got to know the Disco as well during the run.
Now I am sorting with getting it to its former glory with all the oil leaks, electrical nonsense and minor neglect by the previous owners. Found that I need new front shocks, the old ones are completely dead.
So since I plan to make this a long distance hauler to drive around Europe and chill, yet I want to slightly lift it, but not so much. I started looking for options.
I found OME Nitrocharger +4cm front shocks and springs for an ok price in my country. Around 500 EUR.
Now I am thinking what to do with the rear. I have the original air suspension there, which was fixed properly not long ago. What should I do in my scenario with the rear side? If I lift the front, will the car be disbalanced? And how do I solve it, I heard that on RR L322 you can buy the rear Hight sensor. But what is my case with the D2?
And are the OME a recommended option for my car? Maybe there are better alternatives.
Again, My goal for the car to be an overlanded that can be driven from the Baltics to Italy ( example) without difficulty at 110 Km/h speeds with comfort and efficiency.

And my second questions is, what is the best place to order parts in Europe for the Disco? RoverParts has double Customs ( hello Brexit ). My country offers very poor options of shops.
I would be happy to hear your opinions experiences and where do you buy good parts!

Thank You for the help!

Here's a pic from the first day I got it still on its original Norwegian license plates since 1999.

Hi and welcome. You can put springs all round with no issue, being in Norway your best bet for parts is the UK, if it is allowable removing the rear air suspension might be for the best,. As to what lift I like OME springs and shocks but they do ride a little harder when teh truck is empty.

The UK has a variety of options for lifts that are different from what we get over here, Paddock spares, LR direct, Rimmer etc,
Have your front drive shaft inspected they tend to fail and do a lot of damage.

Hi, Thank You very much for the Welcome!
I am already back from Norway. Bought the car there and got it to the Baltics. So I am always in Europe. That's why I was looking for European suppliers,
But regarding the front drive shaft, what should I look into?

Thank you!

The driveshaft joint at the transfer case end drys out then snaps under load. You should have a shop look at it, but clicking when moving and turning at low speed is generally the point of no return and stop driving until it is replaced.

Very happy to hear this information! The Disco 2 currently is in the shop, as its currently my second car I decided to get it road worthy before fully using it.

Do You recommend buying a repair kit for the front drive shaft? Or where to look at a new one, maybe reinforced?

Again, links to where I can get them in Europe very much appreciated

rimmerbros is a popular web site in the uk with lots of spares. Read all the stickies at the top of the forum. V8 or TD5? I would keep the rear air springs personally. You can do a 2" spacer lift in the rear and use a normal lift in the front.

I'd keep the air suspension if it's there.

Being in Finland I order almost all of my parts from the UK.
Just some very random times when I need something right now, I call around local suppliers, with prices over double compared to ordering from the UK, and for the same items.
Haven't found a good supplier within EU that actually has all the stuff like the companies in the UK.
Some parts are avail from general carparts stores etc outside Finland and I tend to use them as much as I can.

Being in EU, all items ordered from the UK and made in the UK are free of customs, but You do need to pay the VAT.

Just make sure You don't pay the VAT when placing the order unless the seller uses IOSS, meaning, paying the destination country VAT correctly.

I have a TD5. Thanks for the idea with spacers! Ill go that way exactly and keep the air suspension.

Regarding ordering from the UK. I have the same case since I am in Latvia. Oh so I don't need to clear customs with those items, very interesting, I will try and order the spacers from the UK.
Can you recommend a website which you had good experience with when ordering to Finland? Since we are in the same region the experience should be pretty much the same.

You need to pay the VAT upon it's arrival in Your country, via customs. At least here it is like that, but it's just an online forn that takes a few minutes to complete and pay.

Country of origin = UK = no customs duties, only +VAT.
Usually the companies shipping abroad have the country of origin info written on the invoice etc.

I've been using Rimmerbros more and more, and You can pay the taxes etc for them directly, so You don't need to do anything after ordering it. For every order I calculate is it cheaper for me to handle the VAT or them, and do I pay in GBP or in EUR.

Paddock, Craddock and LR Parts I also use, and some random manufacturers directly for "special parts"
