yeah all of these all aluminum motors are a little noisy at idle you can hear the drivetrain alot more than a cast iron block as long as its running poorly or very loud i would say leave it be.also these trucks are known for exhaust leaks and that can mislead u to thinking it is the engine cus they sound very similar

Wow BamaBoy that was a lot of oil consumption. Did you try Mobil 1 10w40 high mileage. Just curious. I use a less than 1/4 of quart per 5000 miles. I know Royal purple has great oil. Seems like its worth its price if it cures your problem. I have debated putting it in my diffs and TC case. Or go with the Tech stuff from Walmart and change it more often. (like Spike does)
I have it in my diffs right now, haven't gotten around to putting it in my TC yet.
