Default SLS compressor not turning on

Hi, 2000 D2 with SLS.
Newbie to LR's, about 3 weeks old.
Oh, I want the SLS system, spent some time research this and will stick with it. So for the folks that want me to convert, well, I am not there.

The SLS pump has been working fine although noisy, raising the vehicle as needed and also when pressing the off road mode switch (ORM). Yesterday the dash light remained lit up on the vehicle showing fault with SLS upon starting on the return drive home. less than a mile drive....
Turned off, let sit, restarted, no light, and now no SLS compressor turning on.
Have not checked any connections.

I drove later, no warning lights, and no SLS compressor either. Doors shut, motor on, in park or drive, press the ORM button. One ding (good right?) and ORM light flashes as it has before. No SLS compressor noise, vehicle not lifting up from the rear.

Where do I start testing? Can a hawkeye test my SLS system or do I need a testbook?

Go to RAVE workshop manual, part of the whole set download below. Go to rear suspension (SLS only works on the rear). About 20 pages of info. Attached here is electrical library text, and in the RAVE below you will also find the circuits diagram, which reads like a simple road map. Generally, the first approach is to get familiar wuth what the book says, check all fuses involved with volt meter, check electrical connections for being plugged in, etc. The ABS shares the same ECU (SLABS). What a great way to spend the holidays. Some faults on a Disco take two drive cycles to show up.

Yes a Hawkeye if the correct version, 5 or 6, will read the SLS.
If your pump has been noisy, I would suggest you remove it and clean it out, most likely full of dirt and water.

Pulled the fuse under the hood to check it out. Seems like there might be a little corrosion inside the check window.. Reseated fuse, started disco, and pump came on. hmmm.....
Still not 100% as later starts pump did not kick on.
Back to diagnosing...

Checked on pump, seemed to be suspect.
Ordered pump from Paul Grant - paulgrant@mac.com, or 203-770-1699 - that is the whole assembly and good to go!
Quiet, raises and lowers quicker than the old one did. Happy to SLS back 100% as I love the system.

Had the same problem ended up being a broken brush spring in the compressor motor. I ended up going to the local hardware store finding a spring that was close and made it work. That was almost two years ago. And it's still working great.
