Snow Tires for '04 Disco

The Michelin LTX M/S2 get the #1 in category rating on the Tire Rack web site. They are all-season but have excellent snow ratings.
I am buying a 2000 D-2 in a few days that has 5 new LTX M/S tires already installed, so I'll know more after driving on them for a while.

Last 2 winters I ran Toyo Open Country G02, they performed quite well on snow, not so great on ice. This winter I am trying General Grabber AT2s with studs, the back country dirt roads I drive for work are covered with ice more than snow, and last year a colleague of mine put his chains on half as often as I did with the studs. Will report back in a month or two once they get a workout.
Lemmme guess!!! The rover with DuraTracs! I love mine too! I have to say the GY DuraTracs have been amasing in all conditions that I have experienced so far:

i totally rode the duc to work haha.
actually i did ride on sunday and i forgot how much unfun sand is when on two wheels
Man it was so much easier living in California and buying tires that only saw some mud & the beach ! (just getting there, not driving on the sand)
The size suggested by my mechanic & what I'm assuming is on the truck now
255/55R18
I forgot I drove the Mini back to the city so I can't check what size is on the disco for a couple weeks.

Also, last year was the first year I ran real snow tires on my old Rodeo (cheap Hankooks) and couldn't believe the difference...and the gas mileage went UP, which really surprised me.
Still have the stock Goodyear Wranglers on the new LR3 and can't wait for them to wear out so I can get something decent on there. All season tires are a con -- there's no substitute for the proper tires for the job.
