Default some of the strange questions you get asked

I get a fair amount of questions from people about my Discovery, some are stranger then others. Most are just curious ones like "What do you do with all those extra lights on front?" or "what do you put up in that rack on top?" to which I usually reply that this is where I put my tent so wildlife does not get in my tent at night.

One day a guy saw my Safari Snorkel intake and asked if I was expecting a flood to which I replied, "well you never be too prepared when you live in Texas", and he readily agreed to that. Alvin, Texas used to hold the record for the most rain in a 24 hour period of 36 inches!

I have a mongrammed tire cover on the spare I that got on one of my trips to Cape Town, South Africa and people often ask me if my car is from there, which would be odd since they drive on the other side of the road and the driver's side is reversed there. Guess they don't know that...

Today I stopped at a hamburger stand where you order and a kid in a uniform delivers your burger like in the old days. She was about 17 or so and gave me my order and said "what is that black box on your bumper that has a big W on it?" I said, "oh that is the winch that I use to get unstuck or tow others out". She then asked what the little black cap was for and I said "that's where the control switch plugs in." She said then said, "Oh, I thought that might be where you add the oil." Go figure...

lol, yeah i had some drunk/heavily medicated guy at a service station insisting that my rover must have at one time been used by the discovery channel to film some safari somewhere because it says "discovery" on it...

I lived in Houston (on summer break from Rice) during the summer when Alvin got that 36". It no kidding rained an inch an hour for most of a day The whole area flooded like nobody's business. I drove my VW Beetle up into the courtyard of the apartment complex I lived in, which was a good thing as the rains continued and there was nearly 5 feet of standing water on the side of the building where I usually parked!
