I bought the truck at 110K. I'm already doing the plugs and wires, might as well. And I see the valve cover leaking as well. I’m just going to do all the things that needs to be changed while I’m here.

What is the PCV mod?
Is this it?

Current engine bay...

edit: I think I found my answer, going to find that part. I'm guessing I need two, one for intake and one for the valve cover.

Sticky on the PCV Mod is above the D2 Forum threads. You replace the plastic 14mm black nipple just to the left of your finger. Remove black hose from the valve cover, unthread the black plastic nipple using a 14mm box wrench. Install the FV308 in it's place. Then follow the black hose down to the valve cover and remove the spiral plastic baffle.

It’s the hose to the left of your finger - undo the hose clamp, unscrew the plastic piece, screw in the new part, reattach the hose. If you have a 99-02 4L, then pull the other end of the hose off the valve cover and use needlenose pliars to pull out the oil separater, and then slide the hose back on. Takes all of 2 mins.

Also - you only need one PCV valve for the fitting at the top front of the (edit: intake, not valve cover). On the far end of the hose (on the valve cover toward the firewall) you remove the separator and refit the hose and you're done. If you have an 03-04 with the 4.6L you'll need a drill as they changed the way the separator was installed.

i have the 4.0 but the hose I see only on top of the valve cover that goes back to the intake. I can't see the other hose on the back of the valve cover...

Do you have any photo?

See circled fittings. It’s a really short hose. I mistyped before - the PCV valve goes on the intake - you can see it's a brand new part in the first pic.

On the valve cover side, you pull off the hose, pull out the separator, and refit the hose:

thank you. My buddy will be doing it for me since he works at the dealer and currently has lots of time and will be able to do this in a day.
