Default Starting problems....

I have a 1998 Land Rover Discovery that I just purchase. It have a starting issue where the starter swings slow sometimes and sometimes it swings reg. So I thought I was told the battery had low cranking amps so I changed it and got a 1000w cranking amp Optima battery. That didn't help so over the weekend I changed the started because I was told the starter is going and that's the problem. I still have the same problem.....do anyone what could possible be then problem?

Have you checked the ground connections?

Have your alternator tested to make sure it is charging the battery.
Also check the wires on the back of the alternator and make sure that they are tight.

Ok, you didnt state that you had already checked the alt, sorry.
It must be a ground/loose wire issue.
Sorry I cant help more, electrical wiring is not my thing.
I dont have the patience for it.

yeah check all the chassis grounds and anywhere they tie in to the body/frame, i may be mistaken but i believe the starter solenoid is mounted to the starter, so if you installed a new starter then a new solenoid went in as well... again i could be wrong... but if it works right sometimes and seems like its not getting enough juice others, then it is most likely a faulty connection somewhere...

A new starter went in with a new solenoid. I was thinking could it be the amplifier module? thats not sending the correct current to the starter?

more then likly a bad connection somewhere probably a ground somewhere. double check the connections on the starter.... id put a meter to it and see what it reads. easier to track down electrical gremlins.......b@st@rds

No, not if the ground is connected to the battery. Check all ground connections to make sure they are tight and not corroded. You have to have a complete and good current path from the positive post of the battery to the starter and back to the negative post of the battery. A bad connection at any one of the many points in that path will cause the symptoms you describe.
And sort it out soon. Low current flow will ruin your new starter too.
