Default Steering noise/groan when warm

G'day all. I have a 2000 DII and a steering question.

When the engine is cold, my steering is silent. When warm, the steering box groans. A search here returns lots of stories about the other way 'round: noisy when cold, then quiets down.

I'm guessing it's time for a new pump - but before I take the plunge: is there a common failure mode that would result in the "noisy when hot" symptoms? What should I replace along with the pump to ensure a good result - all the o-rings? hoses, too?

With appreciation for any tips you can pass along.

Start by changing the power steering fluid.
If no change then look into it more, why spend big $$$ if $10 could fix it?

How many miles on the engine, do you know how to flush the P/S fluid? You will need 4 quarts of P/S fluid and a bottle of Lucas power steering stop leak which will help clean up the valves which normally cause the groan.
If you need help on how to flush the system, give me a shout, don't try to just drain it, it will cause you lots of grief.
