Stripped Spark Plug Hole
A heli-coil done properly will work fine in aluminum heads. I put one in my toyota 22R engine years ago and it held another 120,000 miles until i sold the car. They are generally as strong as the original threads. I didn't remove the head but it would have made the job a little easier.

I thought the heads are Aluminum and can't be tapped. Is that not so?
Good news is I got a thread chaser more than halfway through before it stopped. I could have gone further, but with my luck it would have broke off inside. The spark plug is in, but not seated all the way, but very tight. If I'm lucky, the head gaskets will go and my Extended Warranty will pick up the cost.
(Yeah, right.)
