Regarding the window gap, my only thought is that the weatherstripping around the doors are worn and compressed after 20 years. I've got that issue on my 2000. About $120 for each door for genuine weatherstripping (more for the cargo door as there are two).

Couple questions:
1) is there any normal condition that would cause the window frame to create a gap from the seal?
2) do all sunrooofs have exaggerated sound when opening? I didn’t inspect them but it sounded like there was a mechanism snapping every time they opened.

I do like the looks but this experience convinced me that I’m only interested in heavily documented vehicles or possibly rust free-low dollar options that would support the hobby of fixing it up.
I've got one that will be coming available within a month, fully restored, roof rack, OME lift, lots more, you can pm me if you want to know more.

Give serious thought to Extinct’s D2. It will be properly sorted and maintained. The warning lights are an indication that the vehicles you drove are not as good as the seller is claiming. The sun roof noise isn’t normal. If the vehicle was really cheap (eg scrap price) it might be worth it. Otherwise I’d say keep looking for one that’s actually in good condition.

“Scrap price “ is probably an exaggeration, but my point really is that the vehicles that are giving codes are not as well sorted as the seller is claiming.

yeah I understand. This seller was definitely putting the lipstick on the pig. And was not selling at “hobby” pricing.

As an update to the door noise. It did look like new weather stripping. When I called it out he said he’d just loosen the bolts on the frame and persuade/bend the frame over closer. He said he had been driving it for 1000 miles and I can tell you if it even sprinkled this thing would’ve been flooded.

@Extinct looked into sending you a pm but this feature wasnt an option. Definitely interested in your build. Updated Email sent
