temp hit 217F
You never guess with our trucks when it comes to an over heat, engines cost a lot to replace.
Start by testing, make sure the electric fan comes on, do the required test to confirm that the viscus works, not just spins, pressure test the coolant cap, the engine block and track your coolant level before cold starts to see if you are loosing coolant.
Don't waste your money trying to flush your radiator, the veins are way to small so if over 100,000 miles consider a replacement and yes a 180 t/stat will improve a healthy coolant system, but, will only cover up a on going problem.

217's a normal D2 idle high for me... many other people that I've talked to on the boards have the same. Mine will hit 217 in traffic, but the fans kick it back to 204ish, then it creaps back up, then back down in that fashion. I wouldn't worry about it one bit? 200 is the average I see over 40mph when the airs enough to cool the motor... winter temps are slightly lower, hi idle temp will get that high but itll just take longer to get there so i dont often see that unless ive been idling quite awhile. 190ish i believe (i cant recall really) what normal moving winter temps are here in nj@sealevel
