I did this on mine a few months ago. It basically costs a couple of bucks in materials, but it's tedious, and you'll go nuts if you're a perfectionist. I wouldn't do it for someone else, just not worth my time. I wanted a nav unit in mine and didn't want one of those clunky flip-up deals.

Also, I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the other threads, but the viewing angle kind of sucks once installed. It's OK 80% of the time, but if the sun is shining in the windshield/passenger window in the right orientation, you'll get a horrible reflection off the passenger seat, and won't be able to see **** on the screen.

 

Squirt -- Got any pics of how yours turned out? I have one of the flip-up screens in my 04 right now. Looking to update to a unit that is CarPlay compatible. Don't mind the flip-up, but lots more options in double din units. Thanks.
