Default Totaled Land Rover : Starting Question

Hey guys,
Im new here and to the Land rover world. I own a 2001 Disco II. I recently bought another D2 that was totaled. The whole passenger side is smashed in almost to the center console. I bought it mainly for the motor. No damage was done to the motor or driver side body parts. When I turn the key it gets No power to anything. Battery and all wiring is still hooked up. Is there something that disables the electrical system when our rovers are in an accident and is it even possible for me to try and start it? I know about the fuel pump switch which I reset but there is still no power to anything.

Thanks, Kevinb

I think the underhood fuse box is on the right side.

Could be some crushed wires, fuse block, alarm or inerita switch.

On a D2 there are other things that will inhibit start besides the inertia switch. The Body Control Unit uses a number of sensor inputs to control things. And we have not even considered what the air bag deployment would do to the ECU.

Her's the starting circuit for the D2. The ECU supplies grounds to activate relays. You could unplug the EU and oher modules (to prevent frying them), and supply the ground with jumpers at the under hood fuse box, if in one piece. While this would turn engine over, nothing else is going to work, and you may find out that you have a helluva fuel leak, just before it ignites and burns down your house and garage.

So you might want to have all the drawings from the RAVE, do this outside away from anything else, and have a fire extinguisher on hand.

Lots of potential reasons for not turning over, including the neutral safety switch.
Odds are it was totaled while being driven, which means it would have been in gear, and if still in gear, or the ECU thinks its in gear, it wont start.

Ill look at all the above things tomarrow morning. I know that it is in gear. They cut the shifter cable to move it, but it should still atleast get power. The airbags did not deploy. I have no idea how. The whole body is bent in a U. Thanks for the input.

And yes I did park it in the middle of the yard for fire reasons.

The starter will NOT get power if it is in gear, just wont happen.
The airbags only deploy from a frontal collision.
You can sell those, big money.
