When you had the front u-joints replaced, did they also replace the centering ball, if not, it is probably about to fail.
There is no normal slop in a t/case, ours are all gears and if it is getting a lot of slop, there may some internal issues starting up.
I little can be normal, I run a 75W/140 gear oil for quieter gears and better wear protection, it helps.

the slipshafts are your driveshafts. The driveshafts should have a grease fitting on them. The shaft extends when your wheels are articulated. It needs grease to operate smoothly. I cant see how U Joints would cause play. There is no possible movement a u joint can make to do that unless it is 100 percent broken, which would be undrivable. When you move your shaft around, you need to pay close attention to what is actually moving. Is it moving all the way into the transfer case? or into the differential?

johnboy- yes the front driveshaft moves into transfer case and diff. but the sound im hearing seams to come from transfer case. kind of like a click clack when rotating it. ive only had the truck for about a month so i dont really know what could be considered normal.
