Default Trans fuid change

So to do a autotransmssionfuid and filterexchange on a disco 2do you just fill it up on the side plug hole on the trans fluid pan? There is not a transmission fluiddipstick like most cars with auto trans but the side fill hole does not look like it will hold 10.3 quarts like it says it holds. So how do you fill it up with that much fluid?

There is no way to get all of the fluid out. I don't thinkthere is a drain on the torque converter. The most you can do it drop the pan, replace the filter, and add what drops out. I thinkyou have to add back while the engine is running, or you won't get enough. I am sure someone else will chime in...

The only way to get all new fluid is to do a machine flush and hook up to the tranny pump. Be very wary of flushes, they could dislodge something and wreck your tranny.

If you do a filter change/service you will only drain of around 4 plus quarts.
After you add the fluid back, start the engine, let it warm up for a couple of minutes and then recheck the fluid. If fluid come out, your full, if not you will need to add mor ATF.
