Default Transmission Problem - Won't Go Into Reverse

You guys have saved my bacon before so here goes with another question:

On Cold Start (Parked for 3 hours or more), put my 01 Disco in Reverse. No problem

Drive 10 to 15 minutes then park it for about an hour. On restart, if you put it in reverse it acts like it's in Neutral. No Reverse....

Move the Gear Selector to drive then back to Reverse, still nothing......

Then amazingly after 3 to 4 minutes, it either warms up or pressure builds up and it works till I stop again......

Linkage seems fine.

Any suggestions on what I should look at or be looking for?

Thanks!

I would do a transmission service, if you are DIY guy you can either just do the fluid, or drop pan the and do the filter. I would suggest dropping the pan.
Read up on the process it is actually very easy but the Disco has to be running to get the transmission full. And if you do it yourself filler plug always comes out 1st - also while the Disco is running.

With luck that will clear up the problem, it could just be something sticking from low or dirty fluid.

Otherwise it is likely a bigger deal.

Any codes stored ?

I would check fluid level first. If it's low that might explain the situation. Fill it to the proper level and then see if anything changes.
