I need some help. My 2001 D2 with 149K on it is stuck. I was launching my boat when I put it in park and then the weight pulled me back a little and the transmission park caught the weight. Now it wont come out of park and I have the 4 wheel dash ligh with the X in the middle. The manual says it is the TC lock but I cannot find how to disengage so I can move. I have pulled it up t the top of the launch but I cam stuck here now and hoping to get it moving. Any ideas?

Sir, I do believe you diagnosed the problem. The brake light switch is #1 on the list when almost any vehicle won't come out of park, and no brake lights reinforces the diagnosis.
There is a newer version of the brake light switch that's been out a few years. AutoZone sells it in their Duralast box but it has the Land Rover logo molded into it so it's OEM. It's priced at $15.99 at the AutoZone web site.

In the meantime you can pull the shifter surround and release the shifter manually.

Okay new switch did not fix my issue. I still do not have any brake lights and it wont come out of park. When the vehicle is running and I push on the brake pedal I get a 4 wheel and drive line picture that has a red X through it. the manual says differential lock warning lamp. I am not sure what this means as if I push the pin over on the shift lever it will allow me to drive just fine and when in neutral I can change from high to low, so maybe another sensor somewhere giving me trouble?
I appreciate the further help on this one.
