Which U joint?
Front, double cardon greasable with centering ball kit.

Is this the only one that should be replaced?

Is one U joint recommended over another? I will be having it done in the shop, but would like to know what they are installing.

Yes a shop will know what they are doing, and make sure that they also replace the centering ball kit too.
And yes, the double cardon is the one, might want them to do the front u-joint on the front drive shaf also.

 

I am currently replacing all 3 u joints in the front prop as well as the center ball with Neapco 1-0005 u joints and the Neapco 7-0081NG center ball kit, all from Autozone. While I am under the truck I figured that I would change the roto flex coupler in the rear as well. I should be done tomorrow and I will post the cost and time involved.
