Ultra Gauge and transmission temps
Hi everyone :-)
Is anybody reading transmission temps with their Ultra Gauge? I've read their website, and from what I can make of it, you need to program the UG for it...if it's supported by the manufacturer you're interested in. Am I understanding that correctly? If that's how it works, does anybody have the codes?? I've also tried searching here without any luck.

There's a transmission overheat light on the dash that wired to a thermostatic switch on the transmission cooler line, and on the transfer case.
That said, most modern automatic transmissions have a temperature sensor that feeds fluid temp info back to the ECU to determine TC lockup, shift strategies, etc. I don't know that the OBD II protocol by itself is enough to retrieve those metrics.

Thanks Racer X. That's good info to know. It would be nice if I could just get the temps through the Ultra Gauge...but it's looking more and more like I'll have to get a dedicated gauge for it. I don't pull a trailer that often, but when I do, I'd like to know if the trans. is getting too hot.
Thanks for the reply :-)
